GRANTING WISHES FOR MONTANA CHILDREN LIVING WITH CRITICAL ILLNESSES - The Montana Hope Project began in 1984 when a handful of Montana Highway Patrol Officers reached out to a couple of kids with life-threatening illnesses. They dug into their own pockets, borrowed a van, and took the kids and their families on a trip to Glacier Park.

Granting wishes to Montana children has proven to be a rewarding endeavor and has had a positive impact on those involved with the Hope Project. Granting wishes, hosting reunions and our fund-raising events offer comfort and encouragement to families facing difficult circumstances and bring communities together in support of their neighbors. Those involved know first-hand the special meaning of the smile on a child’s face when they receive their wish.

KATHY ATTEBURY - WARRIORS & QUIET WATERS FOUNDATION

Through the experience of fly fishing in Montana, Warriors & Quiet Waters (WQW) is a catalyst for positive change in the lives of post-9/11 combat veterans. They envision an America in which a new generation of combat veterans successfully reintegrates into society

The unseen wounds of war — including post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) — are challenging to track and often go undiagnosed. The Department of Veterans Affairs is taking in thousands of new cases of PTS each month. Because most of the wounded are young, they will need decades of help. WQW believes they are part of the solution regarding our nation’s injured defenders by providing a respite from the stresses of war, the monotony of lengthy hospital stays and traditional therapy, and the many day-to-day struggles involved in their journey home.

JESSE NELSON - MONTANA WOUNDED WARRIORS

Montana Wounded Warriors was formed to provide residents of the State of Montana, who were wounded as a result of combat service in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, with high-quality hunting and fishing opportunities in the state of Montana.

Montana Wounded Warriors focuses solely on putting these wounded Veterans in a beautiful outdoor setting and giving them the opportunity to bond with others who have walked in their boots.

The Veterans have said that the most important aspect of these trips, other than the outdoor opportunity itself, is the chance to get together with other wounded Veterans and talk about what they went through in the field of combat, how they are coping with their wounds, and how they are attempting to transition back into civilian life… in other words it’s part of their healing process.
